Sean Clark • sean@sjclarkandson.com
Growing up in a construction family, Sean has always been interested in the building trades. As a young boy, he would be seen by his father’s side during every “family project.” It was from his father that his love of woodworking came into effect and took hold, gearing towards the start of a passion and skill.

He was able to start his construction career with his father while in high school. After graduating from Monterey High School Sean attended Monterey Peninsula College, where he then went to work for his grandfather’s firm, Albert Tile. Working for his grandfather he became a master of the trade. Still Sean wanted to learn more. He had always had an interest in welding, and through programs at Hartnell College, he was able to learn the skills he needed to expand his knowledge.

Sean has always been very willing to do whatever it takes to build and ensure a company of lasting standing. Whether its been taking new classes, or getting and taking opportunities in the corporate construction world, Sean strives to stay current with new industry trends and practices. He has always had a willing attitude in any and all dealings of the trade and will always do what he feels best for SJ Clark & Son.

Building is a passion, but it’s not his only one. Sean has always taken an interest in youth sports throughout the community. He loves everything about the outdoors; coaching/playing sports, hunting and fishing are just a few of the things he enjoys. Sean’s biggest achievement and what he’s most proud of is his family. He has a great sense of fairness and immense patience, which shows in how he and his wife are raising their children. This is a key balance, as it is not only practiced at home, but his work life as well; making SJ Clark & Son proud of the family atmosphere they always bring to the table.

Scott Clark • scott@sjclarkandson.com
Born into a fourth generation building family, Scott was fortunate enough to start learning the business early. He would accompany his father to jobsites as a young child and then started out as part of the crew in the early 1970’s when he was still in high school. These more than 40 years of practical hands on experience have given Scott knowledge of building that is rare this day in age. This experience- along with the resourcefulness learned on the family’s ranches, the natural talent of a fine craftsman, and leadership ability- has made Scott one of the top builders in the area.
With the unfortunate and early passing of his father, Scott found his early employment as a Carpenters Apprentice for Daniels and House Construction. Working at Daniels and House he quickly rose the ranks to Project Superintendent. Then in 1988 Scott left to enter the world of what he calls “Big Construction” with one of the largest construction firms in the United States, Walsh Construction of Illinois. Like many of the challenges Scott faced in this business, this transition was quickly mastered in the successful completion running of the $33 million dollar Los Angles Metro Rail Main Shop Building. In the 15 year carrier with Walsh Construction, Scott was promoted to General Superintendent in charge of all field operations of the Western Division. With projects from Southern California to New Mexico, Washington to Montana- “There are few of the Western States I haven’t worked” says Scott.
Not quite agreeing with the “We are business men and our business just happens to be building” corporate world Scott longed to return to his roots… being a builder first. His belief, if you build a quality product efficiently, safely, with the schedule and owners wishes in mind, you can’t fail to have a good business. So in 2008 Scott partnered with his son Sean and the two of them set forth in a re-establishment of the old family business.
Life not being totally about work Scott also enjoys cooking, fishing, hunting, golf and the country life of Monterey County. Often you can find him working him and his cousin’s cattle at the family ranch in Chualar, helping other friends at brandings, and occasionally competing in local rodeos. His biggest love is his family. Spending time cooking for them and friends at him and Marlene’s place is his favorite pastime. He also enjoys crafting handmade wooden gifts for his children and still growing list of grandchildren.
